PANDAS!

A single panda cub is 100,000 times cuter than a kitten which means that this picture sums out at over 1.6 megakittens.

16 panda cubs currently being raised in chinese breeding center.

Sunday Morning Brunch, 2 / 26 / 2006

Last night, on a whim, I decided to swing by the Hollywood Theatre, a particularly cool non-profit movie theatre in Portland, and catch a Saturday night showing of Illusion by Michael Goorijan. I purchased my ticket and noticed that a number of people had shown up early. I then noticed the sign which read "Director Michael Goorijan will be in attendance on Saturday at 7pm." My initial thought was "boss!" So, as I wait more and more people show up and the place becomes crowded. This seemed normal. By the time the doors opened there were so many people in the lobby that I could not help but follow the tide into the theatre. Eventually the Director/Producer of this project got up to the mic and began to thank everyone who had helped out, including some of the actors who, it turns out, were seated directly in front of me. During this whole process I began to notice that A) Kirk Douglas was nowhere to be found and B) they were making references to something completely differet. It was the old switcheroo. I found myself in the audience for the world premier of an internet show produced entirely in Portland. Well, I am a supporter of independent projects, whatever they may be, and the first three episodes "amused" me enough that I felt it deserved to be passed on.

Enjoy "Villains" when it airs tonight at 7pm.

Also, I find it amusing that supporting actress Katie O'Grady has a nicer website, than the show.

Too Soon For A Party?

"In other countries, over the years, people recognized places of power. Sometimes it would be a natural formation, sometimes it would be a place that was, somehow, special. They knew that something important was happening there, that there was some focusing point, some channel, some window to the Immanent. And so they would build temples, or cathedrals, or erect stone circles . . ." -Neil Gaiman, American Gods

And on that note:

House on the Rock

Gallery of Huge Beings

World's Largest Collection of the World's Smallest Versions of the World's Largest Things

American Stonehenges

Museum of Magic

The Oregon Vortex and the House of Mystery

Roadside America

Eccentric America

I still say that modern ennui can be decreased by spending more money on giant structural marvels that have no demonstrable purpose. Mystery and ignorance breed contentment. Opiate the masses, for God's sake!

A Very Special Game of Solitaire

A little present for those of you out there who just don't trust that shady Uncle Sam character. By no means impenetrable but a damn site safer than pig latin.

Also, I thoroughly recommend Cryptonomicon.

And probably even Cryptonomicon.

That's right, sports fans, it's that time of year again. America's favorite de facto holiday is here. Most years I would have barely noticed that it was sunday, let alone Super Bowl Sunday, but this year the Steelers are kicking ass so I, like so many other citizens across the country, am obligated to go eat fried food and shout at a screen like the players can magically hear me, both of which I enjoy doing. Lets start off with a brief article on the history of said Super Bowl. We'll follow that with one of my favorite by-product traditions, Super Bowl advertisements. America is in fact so obsessed with consumerism that we've taken to turning advertising on this day into a spectacle of its own, slowly becoming independent from the Bowl itself. Next, how about a little Super Ball action, why not?. Finally, as we all know, variety is the spice of life, so here are some other sports-flavored options: Slamball, Dodgeball, Kickball, and Blernsball.

GO STEELERS!

Today's adventure starts with one of my favorite sites: PostSecret. For those of you unfamiliar with it, PostSecret is a forum in which people can express their inner thoughts to the world without divulging their identities. Reader feedback reports that people find the process liberating and empowering. More importantly, I find people's concept of what needs to be kept secret highly interesting.

On this week's installment of PostSecret there is card featuring Jesus and that, combined with my current facination with the concept of hatred, lead to Jesus is Hitler. Ah the internet, such a bastion of unbridled and nonsensical propaganda.

Speaking of nonsensical propaganda, here is some important information regarding Chuch Norris.

While we're thinking about Chuck, no reason not to check out Conan's Walker Texas Ranger Clips. I enthusiastically recommend not watching the "CollaborativeVid" but rather watching all of the clips in order. Mmmm, Chuck Norris.

Then, somehow, I ended up here. Not sure why or how, but sometimes life just drops things in your lap. David Hasslehoff?
